Triphenylphosphine-3,3',3″-trisulfonic acid trisodium salt hydrate is useful for the preparation of water-soluble organometal catalysts, which finds application in the hydroformylation of propene. It acts as a Lewis base, which is stronger than triphenylphosphine.
