Description

Mucic acid is used to replace tartaric acid in self-rising flour or fizzies. It is also used as a precursor of adipic acid en route to nylon by a rhenium-catalyzed deoxydehydration reaction. It replaces potassium bitartrate in baking powder and also used for manufacture of granular effervescing salts.

Applications
L’acide mucique est utilisé pour remplacer l’acide tartrique dans la farine autolevante ou les boissons gazeuses. Il est également utilisé comme précurseur de l’acide adipique en route vers le nylon par une réaction de désoxydéshydratation catalysée par le rhénium. Il remplace le bicarbonate de potassium dans la levure chimique et est également utilisé pour la fabrication de sels effervescents granulaires.

Solubilité
Soluble dans l’eau.

Remarques
Conserver le récipient bien fermé. Stocker dans des conditions fraîches et sèches et dans des récipients bien scellés. Incompatible avec les agents oxydants.
