Isonipecotamide is used as a reactant for the preparation of Survival motor neuron (SMN) protein modulators, orally available naphthyridine protein kinase D inhibitors and heteroalicyclic carboxamidines as inhibitors of inducible nitric oxide synthase. It is also used to prepare phosphodiesterase 5 inhibitors. It is also used as a reactant for identification of small molecular inhibitors of importin-beta mediated nuclear import. It is also used as a fluorenylmethyloxycarbonyl - deprotection agent in organic synthesis.

L’isonipecotamide est utilisé comme réactif pour la préparation de modulateurs de la protéine survie du neurone moteur (SMN), d’inhibiteurs de la protéine kinase D naphthyridine disponibles par voie orale et de carboxamidines hétéroalicycliques comme inhibiteurs de la synthase inductible de l’oxyde nitrique. Il est également utilisé pour préparer les inhibiteurs de la phosphodiestérase de type 5. Il sert également de réactif pour l’identification de petits inhibiteurs moléculaires de l’importation nucléaire régie par importine-bêta. Il est également employé comme agent de déprotection fluorénylméthyloxycarbonyle dans la synthèse organique.
