Description
Vitamin B9. A B-complex vitamin necessary for the body to produce red blood cellsFolic acid acts as a vitamin (hematopoietic), a nutritional supplement and dietary requirement for poultry. It also plays an important role in the formation of S-adenosyl methionine and in the synthesis and repair of DNA and RNA. Further, it serves as an essential vitamin for erythropoiesis. It is also employed in the treatment of methanol poisoning. In addition to this, it is used in the treatment and prevention of folate deficiencies and megaloblastic anemia.

Elle joue également un rôle important dans la formation de la S-adénosylméthionine et dans la synthèse et la réparation de l’ADN et de l’ARN. De plus, elle sert de vitamine essentielle pour l’érythropoïèse. Elle est également utilisée dans le traitement de l’empoisonnement au méthanol. En outre, elle est utilisée dans le traitement et la prévention des carences en folates et de l’anémie mégaloblastique.
Solubilité
Soluble dans l’hydroxyde de sodium, l’acide acétique, le phénol, la pyridine, les hydroxydes alcalins, les carbonates, l’acide chlorhydrique dilué à chaud et l’acide sulfurique. Légèrement soluble dans l’eau, le méthanol, l’éthanol et le butanol. Insoluble dans l’acétone, le chloroforme, l’éther et le benzène.
Remarques
Sensible à la lumière et à la chaleur. Incompatible avec les ions de métaux lourds, les agents oxydants forts et les agents réducteurs puissants.
