Vancomycin hydrochloride (vancomycin HCl, CAS # 1404-93-9) is the hydrochloride salt of the bactericidal agent, vancomycin.

General Description

  • Vancomycin hydrochloride is a glycopeptide antibiotic that prevents cell wall synthesis
  • Originally obtained from the bacterial strain Streptomyces Orientalis
  • Vancomycin binds to D-alanyl-D-alanine motifs in cell wall precursors and leads to cell death
  • It is active against some penicillin-resistant bacteria

Application

  • Vancomycin hydrochloride is intended for use in the research of infections and for antibiotic resistance testing
